Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Scandinavian Seeress?
Germanic paganism, seeresses are said to have the ability to foretell future events. For example, in Viking society, seeresses called völur practiced said, an ecstasy technique that allowed their souls to travel to other worlds to seek information. They would use a staff, song, and a special seat to perform said, and young girls would sing to evoke spirits. The völur were also known for their seduction skills, which may have made them seem dangerous. Odin, the king of the gods, would even seek help and advice from the völur.
